How to make a quick and easy DIY King Cake:
Mardi Gras is right around the corner. How to make a fast, easy, and delicious Mardi Gras King Cake: Here is my special Creme King Cake recipe for the Mardi Gras Season. My husband and family says it tastes like the famous king cake bakery that is located in the New Orleans area. This is my take on the traditional Mardi Gras treat, the famous King Cake. This king cake recipe is FAST, EASY, and DELICIOUS! It can be changed up to your favorite fillings for all year long too.Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
Servings: 12
Ingredients
2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
8 oz. pack (1/3 less fat) cream cheese
3/4 cup brown sugar unpacked
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Frosting:
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
3 teaspoons butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Hot water to soften butter, desired consistency
3-4 drops food coloring (golden, purple, and green)
Sprinkles (golden, purple, and green)
Optional:
1/2 cup pecans
1/2 cup raisins (soaked in hot water for 10-15 mins)
Toy baby (or) Dry Pecan
Directions
Step 1: Arrange pastry dough on sheet pan in a circle pattern with the small end of triangle pointing inward. Overlap each pastry triangle slightly in circular pattern and set aside.
Step 2: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and start cake filling mixture. Combine the cream cheese with the brown sugar until soft. Next add cinnamon to mix and blend well. Add the 'optional ingredients' above now if desired by folding it into filling mix. Spoon a line of filling around the center of the pastry circle to form a ring shape of filling. Place toy baby or pecan (optional).
Step 3: Start at one end to tuck the outside edge of pastry over the filling until you reach other side. Then start at one end to tuck the inside edge of pastry over the filling to seal the entire ring of cake. Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Step 4: When cake is cool, prepare the frosting mix and decorate. Gold, purple, and green are the traditional colors for king cakes. Green represents ‘FAITH’, gold/Yellow represents ‘POWER’, and purple represents ‘JUSTICE’.
