3D Pumpkin DIY Pinata Cookie Tutorial

3D Cookie Pumpkin Pinata DIY Tutorial

Fall is here and the Halloween season will be right around the corner before you know it, here is a project to help inspire you on what you can create this year. 3D Pumpkin DIY Cookie Tutorial
I am sharing a project tutorial that you can DIY in your own kitchen with items already in the cupboard and a little bit of time. Do this 3D Pumpkin Cookie project on a lazy afternoon or on a rainy day so you can have some fun indoors and spend some quality time with loved ones!

Supplies:

Candies for inside
Orange Jello {or food coloring}

-Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe! :)
Powdered Sugar
Milk
Eggs
Flour
Baking Powder
Sugar
Vanilla Extract
-Use your favorite Royal Icing, writing icing to decorate! :)

I found the candy 'knives' at Target in the Halloween section by their costume selection.

Step 1:

Make your cookie batter, use a sugar cookie recipe then add the orange Jello Packet or food coloring.

Step 2:

Mold into a square or rectangle 'loaf' shape. Place in the freezer for about 3-4 hours, I left my batter in freezer over night.

Step 3:

Cut your batter into slices that are about 3/4 inch thick and place on cookies sheet. Bake for recommended time.

Step 4:

Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes, then cut the with the pumpkin cookie cutters when they are still hot.

Step 5:

Set aside and let cool. Prepare Royal Icing to use as the 'glue' when decorating cookies.

Step 6:

Adhere layers together and fill with candy.

Step 7:

Decorate the Jack O'Lantern faces with sprinkles and sugars.

I know the knives are a little PG-13 but it's just a spooky touch for a sweet treat.

These are great for parties or bring to hostess if invited to a dinner. Maybe minus the candy 'knives' but these make cute favors or hostess gifts in general.

The kids have a blast opening these and the cookie flavor wasn't too sweet, the frosting and decor was the only parts that were truly sweet.

I used the frosting to look like the pumpkin was 'bleeding' white....

I gave the top pumpkin a vampire style jack o'lantern face using the sprinkles I already had.

Enjoy, Happy Halloween!
